After checking my recorded workouts, I logged 701 running miles while I was pregnant - towards the end it was a combination of walking and more so jogging. Knowing how many miles I ran while I was pregnant, having a reliable running stroller was important for when she arrived.

I looked online and read a few articles about some popular brands. We ended up going with the UppaBaby Ridge running stroller and have loved it so far! Here are a few things that went into the consideration and ultimately, our decision to go with this one.

  • adaptable - we purchased the bassinet attachment so we were able to do family walks as soon as possible. During my maternity leave, I spent 1-2 hours outside enjoying fresh air and movement while she napped.*

  • foam wheels versus air - we have a trail near us and many of our runs are "out and back". The maintenance of having to carry supplies to change out a flat tire seemed overwhelming.

  • front wheel lock and unlock option - when we are running on the paved trail, we keep the front wheel locked to avoid having to control the side to side movements, but when we are doing neighborhood walks, we unlock it for the ease of turning.

  • storage - there is a nice basket at the base to keep diapers, toys, change of clothes, blankets...anything you need while you are out!

I hope a few of these pointers help you make your decision! We went to a baby store that carried many strollers to be able to discuss most of the topics with us to help determine the best fit for our needs!

*important note, we did not begin running until our little one was over 6 months old and showed signs of readiness. Until then, we did walks with her either in the bassinet or reclining seat.

Just like creating a recipe or feeding your little one, a spoon can be difficult to balance.  I hope to share ideas and experiences to help you find balance across varyious things - healthy living, intentional movement, or being a new parent!
