One Year+ of Renting Clothes - My Review of Nuuly

A few years ago, I occasionally used a clothing rental service to avoid buying new outfits or dresses for weddings and bachelorette trips. In the Summer of 2023, a friend let me know about Nuuly and after seeing the outfits she brought on a trip, I knew I wanted to try it out. That was August of 2023 and as of now, I still subscribe every month!
It is perfect if you are pregnant or postpartum to have the flexibility of different sizes and styles for a changing body. Second, it meets the desire to have new clothing for special occasions or trips without buying excess items you only wear a few times before it collects dust in your closet. As someone who doesn't venture away from a traditional style, it also allows me the opportunity to try things I wouldn't want to commit to buying - like barrel pants and over the top bold colors.

I still purchase closet staples - plain black or cream turtle necks, dress pants, and leggings - but rent a rotation of sweaters, colored pants, dresses, or bold tops. It gives you the opportunity to wear something different than your normal style.

The app is super easy to use and you can save items to your closet to rent later. I do the basic 6 items per month plan that is around $105/month. Most of the time, all the items arrive barely used or new with tags, but I have had a few times when something was over worn or stained. Their customer service is very easy to navigate - you'll share the feedback with photos, and they typically refund or give you a credit to resolve the matter.

I find the selection on Nuuly to be way more applicable to everyday life and work attire than the previous company I used. They carry brands like Free People, Maeve, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Levi. Also, you have the option to purchase items at a discount if you find you are wearing them a lot in the rental month and want to keep them.

The only con is sometimes I will save items to my closet but they are out of the size I needed when I go to fulfill my order. I typically just look for alternatives and with the variety of items they have (and colors), it isn't an issue. That being said, if you are planning to rent for a specific thing - like a bridesmaid dress - give yourself ample time and a flexibility.
Right now, they are offering $30 off your first Nuuly order, use my referral link to try it out!
